Smoothie Connect
Smoothie Connect: Game Description & Official Rulebook
Part I: Game Description
1.1 Overview and Lore
Welcome to Smoothie Connect, an invigorating, fast-paced tabletop and digital puzzle game of culinary spatial planning, fruit matching, pipeline building, and time management. Set in the sun-drenched coastal haven of Tropical Oasis Bar, players step into the visors of Master Mixologists competing to serve refreshing, high-yield smoothies to a continuous stream of thirsty beachgoers, fitness enthusiasts, and resort guests.
In Smoothie Connect, 1 to 4 players interact with a dynamic, multi-layered kitchen grid board depicting raw fruit orchards, blender basins, syrup conduits, and service counters. Rather than relying on simple match-three mechanics, Smoothie Connect challenges players to draw continuous, non-overlapping path connections—known as Flavor Conduits—between identical fruit hubs (such as Strawberries, Mangos, Bananas, Kiwis, and Blueberries) and link them directly into active Blender Stations. As matching paths extend across the kitchen grid, players must weave around obstacles, ice blocks, and rival pipeline networks to craft elaborate multi-ingredient recipes.
Combining spatial logic, color-path routing, combo-chaining, and resource allocation, Smoothie Connect delivers an accessible, visually vibrant, and deeply engaging puzzle strategy experience. Will you map out the ultimate uninterrupted tropical blend and earn a five-star tip rating, or will tangled pipelines and clogged blenders leave your smoothie bar in complete chaotic disarray?
1.2 Component Inventory
Every standard physical publication or digital interactive edition of Smoothie Connect includes high-density, beautifully finished components designed for tactile feedback and vivid visual recognition:
- 1 Central Oasis Bar Grid Board: A heavy-duty, dual-sided 8x8 or 10x10 modular grid canvas featuring recessed tile slots, blender basins, and outer order rails.
- 100 Acrylic Flavor Conduit Path Tiles: Precision-molded path tiles used to connect fruit hubs across the grid:
- 40 Straight Conduits (dual-ended parallel paths).
- 36 Corner Conduits (90-degree curved paths).
- 16 Cross-Over Bridges (allowing two non-mixing flavor paths to cross on different height levels).
- 8 Multi-Port Splitter Tiles (allowing one fruit hub to feed two separate blenders).
- 36 Vibrant Fruit Hub Markers: Molded 3D fruit tokens (Strawberries, Mangos, Bananas, Kiwis, Blueberries, and Dragonfruits) placed at designated grid terminals.
- 4 Blender Station Basins: High-gloss acrylic station hubs positioned along the grid edges where completed paths deliver fruit yields.
- 30 Customer Order Ticket Cards: Cards depicting specific smoothie recipes, point values, speed bonuses, and required fruit combinations (e.g., "Tropical Sunrise" = 2 Mangos + 1 Strawberry).
- 20 Ice Cube Obstacle Tokens: Clear acrylic blocks placed on grid spaces to restrict pipeline routing choices.
- 4 Player Recipe Dashboards: Personal player consoles used to track current orders, tip tokens, and blender upgrade levels.
1.3 Visual Aesthetics and Design
Smoothie Connect embraces a bright, tropical-pop visual style. Grid boards are rendered in warm beach sands, turquoise waters, and polished bamboo textures, while path tiles feature glowing liquid tubes filled with colorful fruit purées. To guarantee complete accessibility for color-blind and visually impaired players, every fruit suit and matching path tile features bold, distinct visual iconography alongside vibrant colors (e.g., Strawberry = Crimson + Seed Pattern; Kiwi = Emerald + Center Ring Pattern; Banana = Golden + Crescent Pattern).
1.4 Core Objectives
The primary objective in Smoothie Connect is to achieve the highest total Mixology Master Score (MMS) by connecting matching fruit hubs across the grid, routing continuous flavor pipelines into blender stations, and completing customer recipe tickets before the order rail fills up or the shift timer expires.
Points are awarded through:
- Completed Recipe Tickets: Successfully fulfilling the exact fruit requirements shown on customer cards.
- Longest Conduit Bonus: Creating elaborate, long-distance uninterrupted fruit paths across the grid.
- Multi-Blend Combos: Routing three or more distinct fruit types into a single blender basin simultaneously.
- Flawless Kitchen Bonus: Clearing all orders from your queue without letting any customer ticket expire.
Part II: Gameplay Instructions
2.1 Core Mechanics & Conduit Laws
Mastering Smoothie Connect requires strict adherence to spatial pathbuilding rules, non-intersection constraints, and blender input limits.
Law 1: The Matching Connection Rule
- A Flavor Conduit path must begin at a designated Fruit Hub token and connect continuously through adjacent grid spaces to either an identical matching Fruit Hub OR an active Blender Station Basin.
- Paths cannot end in dead-end open spaces; every line placed must eventually seal a complete circuit between hubs or blenders.
Law 2: The Law of Non-Intersection
- Standard flavor paths of different colors cannot cross over each other on the same grid level.
- To bypass an intersecting path, a player must spend a specialized Cross-Over Bridge Tile, which safely routes one flavor over another along a raised secondary layer.
Law 3: Grid Boundary & Obstacle Restrictions
- Conduits cannot be placed on grid spaces occupied by Ice Cube Tokens, kitchen walls, or active blender basins.
- Conduits must stay within the boundary rails of the main grid frame.
Law 4: Blender Capacity Limits
- Each Blender Station Basin can accept up to 3 incoming Flavor Conduits simultaneously.
- Once a blender reaches its recipe quota, it processes the batch, empties its basins, and awards points based on the complexity of the finished blend.
2.2 Game Setup
- Prepare the Oasis Board: Place the Central Oasis Bar Grid Board in the middle of the play area.
- Set Obstacles & Blenders: Place 4 Blender Station Basins at the four cardinal outer edges of the grid. Randomly assign 6 Ice Cube Tokens onto indicated grid spaces to serve as starter obstacles.
- Spawn Starting Fruit Hubs: Draw 8 Fruit Hub Markers at random and place them onto marked coordinate dots across the grid canvas.
- Draw Customer Orders: Shuffle the Customer Order Ticket Cards and place the top 4 cards face-up on the Order Rail. Place the remaining deck nearby face-down.
- Distribute Player Equipment:
- Give each player a Recipe Dashboard and a starting inventory of 10 Conduit Tiles (4 Straights, 4 Corners, 2 Cross-Over Bridges).
- Set score tracking markers to 0 on the perimeter track.
- Determine Lead Mixologist: The player who most recently ate fresh fruit, drank a smoothie, or visited a beach resort takes the first turn. Play proceeds clockwise.
2.3 Fundamental Tactics & Step-by-Step Play
Succeeding in Smoothie Connect requires spatial foresight, inventory management, and tactical routing efficiency:
Technique 1: Outer-Edge Routing
When connecting distant Fruit Hubs, route your initial flavor paths along the outer perimeter of the grid frame. Keeping the center of the grid open leaves maximum spatial flexibility for complex cross-over paths later in the game!
Technique 2: Multi-Fruit Blender Stacking
Rather than fulfilling simple single-fruit orders quickly, aim to route three different fruit types (e.g., Mango + Strawberry + Banana) into the same Blender Basin in a single turn. Multi-ingredient blends trigger massive Signature Recipe Multipliers!
Technique 3: Tactical Ice Blocking
In competitive multiplayer modes, use your path placements to guide your flavor conduits near Ice Cubes, creating narrow choke points that restrict your opponents' ability to bridge their own fruit hubs.
Technique 4: Bridge Economy
Cross-Over Bridge Tiles are limited! Save your bridges for late-game recipe emergencies when the grid is densely packed with tangled pipelines.
2.4 Structure of a Play Session
A standard round of Smoothie Connect takes place across a series of structured turns (or simultaneous speed phases in real-time modes) composed of four distinct steps:
- Step 1: Order Rail Draw
- Inspect the face-up customer tickets on the Order Rail.
- If an open order slot exists, flip the top card from the deck and add it to the rail.
- Step 2: Path Building & Tile Placement
- The active player places up to 3 Conduit Tiles from their hand onto vacant grid spaces.
- Tiles must connect logically to existing paths, fruit hubs, or blender stations.
- Step 3: Recipe Audit & Blending
- Check if any completed flavor path links required Fruit Hubs directly into a Blender Station.
- If a route satisfies an active customer order on the rail, claim that ticket card, collect the indicated points, and clear the completed flavor path tiles back to the supply pool!
- Step 4: Inventory Replenishment & Turn Handover
- Draw back up to your maximum hand size of 10 Conduit Tiles from the central supply.
- Pass the turn clockwise to the next player.
2.5 Recipe Complexity & Scoring Matrix
| Smoothie Recipe Tier | Fruit Requirements | Base Point Payout | Special Order Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple Chill (Tier 1) | 2 Identical Fruit Hubs | 100 Points | Quick Serve (+50 Speed Bonus) |

| Tropical Trio (Tier 3) | 3 Different Fruit Hubs | 500 Points | Multi-Blend Combo Multiplier ($2\times$) |
| Oasis Master Blend (Tier 4) | 4 Fruit Hubs + Dragonfruit | 1,000 Points | Unlocks Golden Blender Trophy |
| Long Path Multiplier | Path Length $\ge 8$ Grid Tiles | $+150$ Extra Points | Added directly to recipe total |
2.6 Game Modes
2.6.1 Standard Mixology Match (2 to 4 Players - Competitive Strategy)
The core competitive experience. Players share a central grid board, competing for limited spatial real estate, claiming shared fruit hubs, and racing to fulfill high-value customer orders.
2.6.2 Rush Hour Sprint (1 to 4 Players - Real-Time Speed Challenge)
- Setup: A 3-minute sand glass timer is flipped!
- Gameplay: Players act simultaneously without formal turns, drawing tiles and laying paths as fast as possible to clear a continuous queue of incoming customer orders.
- Victory: The player with the highest score when the timer expires wins!
2.6.3 Solo Bar Manager (1 Player - Puzzle Campaign)
- Setup: The board starts pre-filled with fixed obstacle rocks and tricky fruit hub placements.
- Gameplay: The solo player must fulfill 10 specific recipe tickets using a strictly limited supply of 25 total path tiles.
2.7 Completion & Final Scoring Matrix
When the final Customer Order Ticket is claimed from the deck or no legal path moves remain on the board, the game enters the Final Mixology Audit:
- Ticket Value Total: Sum of all points printed on completed Customer Order Cards in your score pile.
- Bonus Tokens: Points earned from speed bonuses and long-path achievements.
- Unfulfilled Order Penalty: Subtract 150 Points for every customer ticket left remaining on the Order Rail.
- Unused Bridge Bonus: $+50$ Points for each unused Cross-Over Bridge Tile remaining in your private inventory.
2.8 Game End & Victory Conditions
A game of Smoothie Connect officially concludes upon reaching any of the following triggers:
- Order Deck Exhaustion: The final Customer Order Ticket from the draw deck is fulfilled and removed from the board.
- Grid Lockout: The kitchen grid becomes so densely packed with tiles that no player can legally place a tile or form a valid route.
- Timer Expiration: The countdown clock reaches 0:00 in real-time speed modes.
The player with the highest overall Mixology Master Score (MMS) on the score track is officially declared the Master Mixologist of Smoothie Connect!
2.9 Rule Clarifications & Kitchen Etiquette
- No Disconnecting Active Lines: Once a Conduit Tile is placed and connected to an active flavor line, it cannot be picked up or moved on subsequent turns unless a specific "Kitchen Cleanup" action card is played.
- Bridge Layering: Only one Cross-Over Bridge Tile may occupy a single grid space. You cannot stack multiple bridges on top of one another to create three-tier paths.
- Shared Blenders: In multiplayer mode, Blender Stations are public infrastructure! Any player may route their flavor conduits into any open blender basin along the grid edge.
